Nature Sculpture Research
Statement:
After conducting my research various elements from the pictures were taken and put within each sculpture. The line work was heavily inspired by vines and roots given their natural random position. Black ink was splattered on a few sculptures to mimic the way dew sits on a blade of grass. Most the designs were based off the shapes of flower heads as well as many random impulses to create unique designs different from each other in drastic ways.

Dinner and a Movie Visual Final
Statement:
For my Dinner and a Movie project I decided to go with the movie John Wick. The overall theme that this movie delivers is revenge. John Wick loses his wife and in her will he receives a puppy to provided him comfort. John then comes across a young mobster who demands his car. John refuses and the mobster and his crew break in steal the car and murder his dog. John now goes on a blood-filled path of revenge in honor of his wife.
I started off with a black cloth which brings this dark tone to the overall image. The pocket watch and rose are used to represent the loss of his wife. There are many meanings behind the rose, here it is used as both a symbol of death and romance. I wanted something to symbolize the journey John will take. There are plenty of guns in the movie but I believe bullets were the proper way to show his journey for revenge. The knives are used to reflect the intensity that is brought to the film, fading into the black table cloth allows the blades to stand out. Arranging the objects in a symmetrical pattern is a reflection on how John Wick is a very organized man.

Touch
Touch
“One of the great
biology is why the experience of pain is so subjective. Being able to withstand
pain depends to a considerable extent on culture and tradition.”
- A Natural History of the Senses,
Diane Ackerman
Pain is a
very complex experience. We all go through various forms from physically to
emotionally. In this piece red was used to symbolize blood while blue represents
the emotional side of pain. The finger draws towards the flame which is purple.
Both are very real which we all experience every day.
A Rose
Canvas with Acrylic Paint
‘We play at devouring
each other, digesting each other, we nurse each other, drink each other’s
fluids, actually get under each other’s skin. Kissing we share one breath, open
the sealed fortress of our body to our lover. We shelter under a warm net of
kisses.”
- A Natural History of the Senses,
Diane Ackerman
When one thinks of a symbol of love one will often think of
a rose. It embodies the sense of passion as we often give those, we care for
flowers to show our affection and gratitude. As there are many colors to the
rose the more iconic is the red rose.
